The Ritz-Carlton has opened a new hotel in Fukuoka, Japan. Located in the tallest building in the city's commercial district, the luxury hotel offers exceptional service and a modern design. Fukuoka is known for its growing start-up scene and rich history, traditions, and culinary culture.

Tina Edmundson, President of Luxury for Marriott International, expressed her excitement about the opening of The Ritz-Carlton's seventh hotel in Japan. She mentioned that since its introduction in 1997, The Ritz-Carlton has gained a reputation for its exceptional luxury and service, which has made it a favorite among both locals and tourists in Japan. Edmundson also mentioned that they are looking forward to solidifying their presence in the luxury market by expanding to Fukuoka, a promising and growing destination.

Fukuoka used to be an important stop for trade along the Silk Road and it continues to serve as a significant gateway between Japan and the rest of Asia. The city is well-known for its annual festivals, including the Hakata Gion Yamakasa summer festival which has been recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. Besides these festivals, Fukuoka also offers beautiful beaches, natural parks, and historic sites like the Shofukuji temple from the 12th century and the ruins of Fukuoka Castle. The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka is conveniently located near Tenjin, the trendy center of the city which is also a growing technology hub with various shops, bars, cafes, and nightlife options. It takes around 15 minutes by car or public transportation to reach Hakata Station, Hakata Port, or Fukuoka Airport from this area, providing easy access to Tokyo.

The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka is located on the highest nine floors of a 25-story glass tower designed by Kume Sekkei from Tokyo. The hotel's interior design and artwork, overseen by Layan Architects + Designers based in Melbourne, draw inspiration from Fukuoka's traditional craft of yarn-dyed silk and kimono weaving, known as "Hakata-ori". Local artisans have contributed folding screens, sculptures, paintings, and woven textiles that are seamlessly integrated into the overall design concept. The hotel offers stunning views of the Genkai Sea and surrounding hills, creating a unique and memorable atmosphere.

The hotel has 167 spacious guestrooms on the 19th to 23rd floors, with an area of 50 square meters. There are also 20 suites that start at around 550 square feet. The Fukuoka Skyline rooms provide beautiful views of the city, while the Park View rooms overlook the greenery of Ohori Park. The Bay View rooms offer guests a glimpse of the passing ships in Hakata Bay and beyond. The Presidential Suite, which is almost 1,500 square feet, and the Ritz-Carlton Suite, which is over 2,000 square feet, both have a dining room and kitchen for private meals. On the topmost floor of the hotel, the 24th floor, guests staying in club and suite categories can access The Ritz-Carlton Club, which is a private sanctuary. The club offers five culinary presentations every day, including breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, hors d'oeuvres, and cordials. The Ritz-Carlton Club also has a bar and a private room, making it a convenient venue for business and social gatherings. There are live jazz performances every Saturday night, and a dedicated concierge service ensures that guests receive personalized care from the moment they book their stay until they leave the hotel.

The Lobby Lounge & Bar provides a cozy space to enjoy refreshments and light meals throughout the day. Bay, drawing inspiration from Hakata Bay's passing ships, offers original cocktails, chargrilled dishes, and tapas to be enjoyed on its terrace with stunning views. Situated on the 24th floor, the Ritz-Carlton Spa offers various amenities and services. These include an indoor swimming pool that provides a stunning view of the bay, a gymnasium that offers exceptional city views, and private rooms for indulgent treatments using local ingredients and ESPA products. The hotel also provides child-friendly amenities and activities through its Ritz Kids program. These activities include guided excursions and craft experiences that are designed to bring nature, exploration, responsibility, and culture to life for young travelers.
